The Puritan is a literary magazine journal. It is one of the Canada’s Premier online literary magazines. It is based in Toronto, and it was founded in late 2006. The magazine is dedicated to publishing the best essays, poetry, fiction, interviews, and reviews. It is now open, and seeks, to receive submission from both local writers, and writers around the world. It has recently published many finest literary talents, both at home and aboard, you too can make to a by-line.

But before you submit your work please take sometimes to read their past issue online.

They pay high bounties for quality work, and their current publication rates are as follows:
 $100 per Essay they publish
 $50 per published work of fiction
 $100 Per Interviews they accept
 $100 For a review they use
 $15 per a poem they received and accept to published
 $60 for poems running for four pages and above.

For contests entry fee is charged for the Thomas Morton Prize, which is $20. The Winner in fiction or poetry will receive $1000 in cash prizes. Runners-up will pocket $200, and, a generous prize pack of books, plus a magazine subscription.
Submissions received in March 25 are considered for the spring issue. You are already later for this, published in May. Now focus on August issue, and submissions are received by June 25, to be considered for the summer issue. The work they received in September 25 to be considered for the fall issue published in November, 2017. For February issue it is received by December 25. It is the quarterly publication.

It began in 2007 as an independently funded print journal, dedicated to publishing, essays, fiction, and interviews in Ottawa, Ontario. It was sold in bookstores across the city. In its early times, it was Ottawa’s only quarterly prose journal. The magazine resumed publishing, and now in the form of an online magazine operating from Toronto. Its mandate is poetry and reviews. Call for paper submission

Calls for lucrative grants funding proposals

      The UN Department of Public Information is receiving applications from young journalists, for the 2017 Reham Al-Farra RAF, Memorial Journalists fellow program. The last day of receiving application is 21, May 2017.

UN General Assembly Resolution 35/201, paragraph III-9, mandated in December 1980. In September 2003 it was renamed, to be called now, Reham Al Farra Memorial Journalists Fellowship Program”.

This program helps young journalists to gain first-hand experience working in the United Nations. It is an opportunity for journalists from different countries to meet, and exchange ideas with United Nations communication professionals.

The program is open to junior and mid-level media professionals from developing economies and in transition economies.

This fellowship covers roundtrip airfare from applicant country of residence to New York. It provides a daily allowance of about $385.  This is be used for accommodation and daily meals. The allowance is adequate to cover a standard hotel, and food rates in New York.

Applicant for this program must meet the following criteria: be between 22 and 35 years old, a fulltime working journalist, and proficient in English, with a passport valid for at least six month, time beyond the beginning of the program in September, 2017 and be a national of a developing country.

BioInnovate Africa Programme is set to give out $5 million grant funding to support researchers, scientists, innovators and entrepreneurs in eastern Africa. The deadline for application is 2 June, 2017 its purpose is to link bio-based research ideas, technologies to businesses, and the market. BioInnovate Africa Program is a regional initiative supported by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency

The goal of BioInnovate Africa Programme is to improve the productivity, and living standards of smallholder farming communities in eastern Africa. The purpose is to make agro and bio processing competitive and environmentally maintainable enterprise.

The main objectives are to generate bioscience innovations. This is meant to address the needs of smallholder farmers, and agro processors in the eastern Africa region. To be involved in policy making and evaluate applicable policy options to support bioscience innovations.

Areas to focus includes: value addition to agro produce, and making of agribusiness opportunities. Agro and bio waste adaptation is meant to support of climate change mitigation and environmental sustainability and development of policies to foster bioscience innovations in the east African region.

This funding available is up to $ 5 million for three years. This fund is to be allocated in two categories as follows: First grant is up to $3.75 million, meant to develop and do piloting economically viable bio based technologies and products. The second category is about $1.25 million for Biobased technology business incubation.

Application requirement

Applicants are eligible to apply for these grants must a researcher, a scientist innovator or entrepreneur who is a permanent resident in any of the Eastern African countries, which includes: Ethiopia, Burundi, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda,

Applicants must be formally associated with a university, private firm, or public research organization as a full-time employee.

Private Firms must be legally registered smallholder farmer based, community based organization or a group. Students already admitted in local universities within the region for PhD or Master’s Degree will benefit from funds to support their tuition fees.  These students have to attach to applicant’s project team, and should not be as co-applicants. Postgraduate Students can be supported only through operational costs. They have to do their research within applicant project.

A call for artists worldwide to enter online exhibition

nature-art-wallpaper-1If you are an artist and you are looking for places to submit you creative work, The National Association of Women Artists and The Cube Art Project, are looking for you and your art, for consideration as well as exhibitions. Please apply before deadline. You can submit your work, or share this post with someone you know, who is an artist, and she or he is looking for audience to their art work.

 The National Association of Women Artists’ has announced a worldwide online exhibition for innovative crafts. Deadline is May 14, 2017. The show will run from June 1, 2017 through to August 1, 2017.

People eligible for this art exhibition

It is open to all The National Association of Women Artist members. Non-members women can also submit their work so long as they are 18 years and above. All applied arts will be considered. These will include: book arts, pottery, jewelry, stained glass, tapestry, mosaics needle-point, metal work, quilting, wood work, origami, basket weaving and papier-mâché.

Awards and benefits

They only want one winner, who will be featured on http://www.nawaonlinegallery.org, and her own page. The page will include biography of artist’s statement. Pay entry fee

Members of the National Associations of Women Artists’ will have to pay $35 entry fee. And non-members will have pay $45 for two entries. For every additional entry up to 5 entries, you will to pay $10.

They are seeking, animations, video art, motion graphics, video-mapping and sound visualization projects for screening on their large three dimensional monitor the Cube. This screen is seen by a larger audience, hundreds of people in day. It could reach tens of thousands people in weeks. This submission is open to amateur and as well as professional artists worldwide. It is a curated competition of artwork.  It good for a public art audience, extensive latitude in genre and in style will be considered.  Consideration is given to artworks that are of a formal, and visual appeal.
